NCLEX® ReSources

Step 1: Know Your Core Content
NCLEX-RN®
NCLEX-PN®
One major reason that many graduate nurses struggle studying for NCLEX® is because they jump right into taking practice questions without having a strong understanding of the core content.

For many, a good amount of time has passed between graduation and sitting for the boards. During this time, if one is not applying the knowledge learned during school then they tend to lose it.
One way to counter this is by brushing up on your core content. Once you are confident with the core content then you should move on to practice questions. But, before then make sure you understand how to take the exam.

Step 2: Understand How to Take the NCLEX®
NCLEX-RN®
NCLEX-PN®
Many students fail the NCLEX® simply because they do not understand how the exam is structured or how to take the exam. The NCLEX® is a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT). What this means is that the computer strategically selects questions based on your performance on the previous question. The better you do, the harder the questions will get.  The goal of the NCLEX® is to remain above the passing level of difficulty and answer more difficult questions correctly than easier questions and answer more questions right than wrong.
Tip: If you start to notice that you are heading towards receiving all of the questions ... slow down. Every questions counts now more than ever. You are still getting questions, so you're still in the game. If you are at the second to last question, you want to get this question right. If you have have been doing fairly decent on the exam, it will be this question that will determine whether you Pass or Fail.

Step 3: Learn How to Answer NCLEX® Priority Questions
NCLEX-RN®
After brushing up on your core content and then learning how to take the NCLEX® you are officially on your way to passing the boards.

The next thing that I recommend is to practice answering questions on prioritization and delegation. The majority of NCLEX-RN® is based on what YOU the RN will do in certain situations. During this is exam you will have to prove that you meet the minimum level of competency in doing so.

Step 4: NCLEX® Practice Questions
Currently, there are several online programs as well as books that offer NCLEX® Q&A banks with rationales. I just want to remind you that before diving into the Q-banks be sure to know your core content. :)
